A Snow Globe Week
This has been an amazing, crazy, and unforgettable week.
As I write this, I’m preparing to head home tomorrow, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
One of the greatest gifts of this week has been having my wonderful wife, Abbi, by my side. Through every test, every conversation, and every long day in the hospital, she’s been there. Friends and family have also surrounded us with incredible love and support. I honestly don’t know how to put into words how much it has meant.
The team here at MUSC has been extraordinary. The doctors, nurses, and staff have cared for me with such kindness and compassion. They’ve even found creative ways to bring joy into a hospital stay.
Each day, a new therapy dog has come to visit (there are something like 100 of them on the roster!). Oliver the dachshund completely stole my heart. He licked my arm like it was a popsicle, which I thought was a special bonding moment. Turns out he’s apparently addicted to hand sanitizer. 😂
Another day, a music ministry stopped by our room. Not only did they play for us, but they handed each of us an instrument and invited us to join in. One of the songs was Eye of the Tiger. Trust me when I say we’re not the most musical family, but we had an absolute blast.
Internally, life feels a bit like a snow globe right now. Everything has been shaken up. So much has changed in such a short period of time. There are still a lot of emotions to process and a lot of unknowns ahead.
But in the middle of it all, I keep coming back to gratitude.
Thank you for every prayer that’s been lifted up on my behalf. Thank you for every message, text, comment, and encouragement. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in tangible ways. The love and care we’ve experienced over the past week have been immeasurably more than I could have asked or imagined.
Tomorrow, God willing, I’ll be walking out of this hospital and heading home. There are still more chapters to this story, and I’ll continue to share updates along the way.
For now, I’m simply grateful.
More updates to come. Love you all.

How GREAT is our God to answer the collective prayers of all those who love you!
Oh, therapy dogs are great! And music can uplift us. Glad you are being shown heartfelt care.
